i fly like paper?

Hello, and welcome to Duskglass.com, the Confused Orizuru Network (we're trying out different branding profiles here at DG.COM, and hoping something sticks). This is a turn-of-the-century-style personal domain, filled with lots and lots and lots of words, and things, and stupid things, and also links to social networking platforms that I seldom use — except for the Listography account, I'm kind of digging that one. Every layout that appears on Duskglass.com has been etsiliciously hand-made by me, and they are so quaintly juvenile, ineptly-drawn, and bird-covered that the whole site could pass as illustrations for an overearnest 11th-grader's Jonathan Livingston Seagull project. But we like it that way! We were once an overearnest 11th grader (although we hated Jonathan Livingston Seagull and deeply resented being forced to read it, let alone being forced to annotate a review of it), and the nostalgia is almost overwhelming. It makes our eyes water. Look:

table of contents

CYNN CORVUS » Why do birds suddenly appear every time you are near? Just like me, they long to be close to you.

HE KINDLY STOPPED FOR ME » Life is a constant battle between the heart and the brain. But guess who wins? The skeleton!

公爵を言い聞かせてくれ » Open your mouth and close your eyes and you will get a big surprise

THE ♥ GOES 9 » Now that I've finished Rashoumon, the last assignment in my Japanese reader, the only things stopping me from working on this page are my usual compliment of avoidance behaviors.

My FANLISTINGS!

re: 18 September 2010

This, the seventh version of the mainpage, features some paper cranes (called "orizuru" or "おりづる" or "折鶴" in Japanese) and a half-assed (but freehand!) submarine porthole and the font 'High Fiber.' It came out looking a lot different from what I'd drawn in my head, but it's sort of grown on me. Expect version 8 any minute now, though. (Or probably not.)

This page belongs to an elderly fangirl called Emma Rosetta (age: 31; race: dusky; gender: female; winter: love; hello: kitty; celiac: is one; yoga: too clumsy; japanese: literate but not yet fluent; twinkies: i miss you), and it was named for John d'Uskglass, a character in Susanna Clarke's wonderful novel Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell. It was first registered in 2005.
